During the opening intro for the 2011 U.S. Open, NBC edited out the phrase, “under God, indivisible” from the Pledge of Allegiance. The news only showed the first of the intro where the Pledge was used not once, but twice. Guess what, it occurred both times. Here’s the full segment.
As you might expect there was an immediate reaction to this causing NBC to issue an apology. During the apology, when I heard, “to those of you that were offended”, my initial reaction was, ‘uh, all of us’.
But sadly that is not the case. So few have a real knowledge of what makes America unique. We get our rights from our creator (God), we are “under God” NOT man. That part of the pledge is a pretty big deal and defines our freedom. A freedom that very few on this planet understand and no other countries offer. The shame is, many Americans don’t understand.
Naturally the apology didn’t provide an explanation for the omission.
A technical glitch perhaps… that happened twice.
