Phil Robertson neither condemned nor judged. He expressed his interpretation of the Bible, the basis of his religious view. He was not judging but rather simply expressing what the Bible says to him. He was not condemning because as a believer he knows he doesn’t have that authority but as a Christian he also believes that all sin can be forgiven.
On a personal note he did somewhat graphically explain what he thought a man would consider attractive and stated, “but hey, that’s just me”. That emphatically demonstrates that he was not discriminating in that he was speaking of a man’s desires from “his” point of view and at the same time NOT imposing them.
It seems to me the only person really hurt in this was Phil Robertson. Not only did A&E suspend him from his own show but for many he will be labeled a “hater” when he is anything but. He even states he loves all Gods people.
As a Christian Phil believes Christ has the power to forgive all sin and being a generous man of courage how would anyone expect him not to express that view; a concern for those who he feels, regardless of their nature, would live a more happy fulfilled life following Christ.
He is the same man today as he was prior to the show airing on A&E. He was expressing his views in an outside interview and he was not representing A&E. He was expressing his view and one he held prior to his relationship with A&E.
We continuously hear from the left, from Obama and various members of this current Administration that we need to have an “adult conversation” yet it seems any serious conversation is thwarted before it’s started.
Adult conversation?…
Obama to McCain when pressed on stimulus specifics; “We won John”.
Hilary Clinton when pressed on Benghazi specifics: “What difference does it make”.
Al Gore when pressed for global warming debate: “the science is settled”.
… and on and on…
There are just too many agendas and bank accounts that depend on not having an adult conversation.
In fact Americans are starved for clear common sense adult conversation and it is for that very reason that talk radio and a show like Duck Dynasty are so overwhelmingly successful. And it is that very reason that attacks against groups that mine for truth and honestly converse are attacked regularly.
